To mark the centenary of Art Deco, Moissonnier is honoring its 1920 lacquered chest of drawers, inspired by a model signed Paul Follot, one of the “inventors” of this emblematic movement. An Art Deco rarity in the collection, this piece combines luxury, innovation and craftsmanship, embodying the daring spirit of these particularly creative years.

French cabinetmaker and decorator Paul Follot is considered one of the founding fathers of Art Deco. His creations, marked by geometric lines, stylized floral motifs and ostentatious luxury, had a profound influence on 20th-century design. The original chest of drawers, designed for his Paris apartment, features an imposing central floral motif, a symbol of an era when art and industry interacted to create unique pieces.

Moissonnier has reinterpreted this major piece :

• Beech wood for the structure,
• Fluted legs and finely carved stringcourses,
• Trompe-l’oeil painted Portor marble top,
• High-gloss black lacquer, a demanding technique that requires perfect mastery for an impeccable finish.

This half-moon chest of drawers features four doors (a central opening and two side doors) and a central drawer, offering both functionality and elegance.

The result of extensive experimentation, our Louis XV chest of drawers features a completely new, original design in which the bronze ornaments have been crafted from white Limoges porcelain, adding depth and brilliance to our iconic model. Created in collaboration with Ateliers Arquié, this 100% French and eco-friendly creation embodies the perfect blend of tradition and modernity.

An exceptional collaboration

For this entirely new creation, we partnered with Ateliers Arquié, a company specializing in the production of porcelain objects for tableware, home décor, and interior design. Renowned for its expertise in reproducing works of art for museums, the porcelain manufacturer also regularly collaborates with designers to develop contemporary creations and incorporate porcelain into furniture and lighting fixtures.

When technology meets art craftsmanship

To achieve this feat, each bronze ornament was 3D-scanned, modeled, and then cast in porcelain, reproducing the details of the original designs with remarkable precision. The chest of drawers is finished in a pale blue inspired by Wedgwood, a subtle tribute to the English manufacturer’s creations.

An eco-friendly and sustainable piece

Made in France, in the Moissonnier workshops in Bourg-en-Bresse, this chest of drawers combines certified, locally sourced beech wood with Limoges porcelain, resulting in a sustainable and eco-friendly design. A strong commitment to French craftsmanship and environmental sustainability makes this piece truly exceptional.

A dialogue between heritage and modernity

In 2025, Paris celebrates 100 years of the Decorative Arts with a major retrospective, highlighting the figures who revolutionized design and fashion. Among them is Paul Poiret, the visionary couturier of the 1920s, whose geometric patterns and play on color continue to inspire contemporary designers.

To mark the 140th anniversary of the house, Moissonnier has revisited an emblematic motif, imagined by the painter Raoul Dufy, and used to create a kimono-style coat by the famous couturier. Enlarged and reinvented, the motif now adorns the back of a Fontenoy bookcase.

Celebrating the Louis XV style on the one hand, and the decorative arts on the other, this bookcase bridges two eras. By magnifying a motif designed by Raoul Dufy in 1 and reusing it on a piece of furniture in this style, Moissonnier reaffirms its roots in modernity. The piece is like an invitation to rediscover the heritage of the Decorative Arts.

Here, a footstool lets out musical notes, and there, a shepherdess transforms itself into a swing… The historic furniture, usually sober, comes to life under the gaze of visitors, blurring the boundaries between reality and poetry.

This year, the company celebrates 140 years of creativity by daring unexpected combinations, where artisanal know-how meets a resolutely contemporary aesthetic. A reminder that excellence does not exclude fantasy.

Figue cendrée: a new shade to enhance the beauty of wood

In the spotlight on the Moissonnier stand: Figue Cendrée, an original shade that joins the company’s color chart. This subtle parma, enhanced by hints of gray, lends elegant depth to furniture pieces. Presented on a Fontenoy bookcase (ref. 687 BIS), this shade creates a striking contrast with the pickled oak interior panels, revealing all the richness of the materials.

Anglo-Saxon spirit in the spotlight

Numerous references to Anglo-Saxon spirit and style dot the scenography. Inspired by the hushed ambience of English clubs, a waxed wooden secretary makes a grand entrance, accompanied by tartan or houndstooth motifs, fabrics by Ben Pentreath for Johnstons of Elgin.

The Moissonnier scenography pays subtle homage to British elegance, with nods to the hushed world of London clubs. Highlights include :

• A waxed-wood secretary inspired by English bookcases, with tartan and houndstooth motifs, by Ben Pentreath for Johnstons of Elgin.
• A Louis XV chest of drawers, revisited with a hand-painted panther design, for a boldly offbeat touch.

These unexpected combinations underline Moissonnier’s ability to blend influences, while maintaining the high standards of French savoir-faire.

The program includes chests of drawers transformed into cocktail bars, an XXL chest of drawers that becomes the support for a collective work of art, a screen sublimated by the work of artist Jim Kylam, our iconic Louis XV chest of drawers in a version with porcelain instead of bronzes… All this accompanied by a soundtrack mixed by Isadora Dartial on classical music themes. Moissonnier never ceases to amaze!

When luminous art meets stylish furniture

This collaboration is the fruit of a meeting between two singular houses. Moissonnier, on the one hand, a century-old cabinetmaker renowned for its art of patina and bold shades, and Beau & Bien, on the other, a creator and sculptor of light for almost twenty years, combining innovative technologies with excellent craftsmanship. The result is a hybrid piece of furniture, combining an illuminated Vatel tray with Moissonnier’s Louis XV chest of drawers.

A tribute to French refinement

Inspired by the legendary maître d’hôtel François Vatel, this eponymous platter embodies French elegance and the art of entertaining. A delicate yet ingenious piece designed by Beau & Bien, it is crafted in hand-painted Limoges porcelain and sublimated by a porcelain bell gilded with fine gold, incorporating an innovative LED system. Vatel transforms every service into a unique experience: it transports glasses of champagne or teapots while diffusing a soft, warm light, whether placed on a table, console or any other space. Once its mission is accomplished, it returns to recharge on its base, integrated into the sumptuous Louis XV chest of drawers.

The object of much experimentation, this chest of drawers once again lends itself to the game of metamorphosis and technical innovation. The most perfect expression of the rocaille style, the chest of drawers has been adapted to incorporate an induction disc on the top, to accommodate and recharge the Vatel tray. Slightly concave, the top is hand-painted with an elegant motif of leaves and flowers inspired by the pattern on the porcelain tray.

An eco-responsible and sustainable piece

This completely new piece is made in France using sustainable materials and environmentally-friendly technologies. It embodies the eco-responsible commitment of both houses. The chest of drawers is made in the cabinetmaker’s workshops in Bourg-en-Bresse, from certified, local beech wood. Vatel incorporates a rechargeable battery, guaranteeing long autonomy and versatile use. These are just some of the reasons why Vatel is such a unique and avant-garde piece of furniture.

The various pieces on show are designed to demonstrate the key role played by color in the world of decoration and design. Under a single typology, the seat, industrially manufactured objects, high quality furniture or self-published pieces, deploy a range of techniques and varied expressions of color.

Moissonnier is present with its French Garden armchair, designed by Pierre Gonalons, and offered in the Plum shade and upholstered in outdoor fabric by Lelièvre.

Carried out on our Louis XV chest of drawers (ref. 573), the object of numerous experiments, the operation requires precision to ensure that combustion remains limited and does not damage the wood in depth. This creates cracks and roughness that enhance the beauty of the material. To create a strong contrast with the matt effect of the burnt wood, bronzes with a black lacquer finish were chosen.

Another expression of patina, and a reference to the very DNA of Moissonnier, which celebrates the passing of time to make it its signature.

Available as a daybed, sofa, armchairs and tables, the French Garden collection is inspired by wooden trellises, particularly appreciated in French garden design. The designer’s contemporary design is complemented by technical innovation: laser-cutting, patina for outdoor use, bronze details… All the artistry and know-how of our craftsmen can be found here. The ultimate refined detail: the Savoy blue marble tops are sandblasted to match the trellis pattern.
